The Second Annual Urban Ocean Poetry Cruise

Time
Saturday, June 18, 2011 · 4:00pm – 6:30pm
Location
Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach, CA
100 Aquarium Way
Long Beach, California

On Saturday, June 18th, at 4PM, The Second Annual Urban Ocean Poetry Cruise will be launched by the Aquarium of the Pacific. Poet and performer Linda Albertano has been working with noted Long Beach poet and professor, Elliot Fried, to add poetry to this very special event.

The “Urban Ocean Cruise” is not a typical tourist trip. It demonstrates the balance between wildlife and commerce in the harbor, as well as promoting conservation and sustainable practices at sea, The event is about two-and-a-half hours long. While inhaling the invigorating sea air, patrons will view the spectacular harbor from a vantage point ordinarily inaccessible,

A selection of sea-themed poems will be read at brief intervals during the voyage.

The Urban Ocean tour itself is well worth the investment of a Saturday afternoon (and a $30 ticket)! The funds go toward keeping this educational project about the sea alive.

If you wish, you can purchase tickets directly at the Aquarium (be sure to arrive early).

DINNER

We’ve found a great little Greek restaurant nearby, and anyone who wants to dine on lamb and feta cheese can join us afterwards.

“Georges” serves tender and delicious New Zealand lamb chops family style with all the Greek fixings and trimmings for just $25 per person!

They’ll be swamped on Saturday evening, so we will need to make reservations ahead of time.

Please RSVP to me by email if you’d like to join us for a meal at George’s Greek Restaurant. HOOPAH!!!

Hope to see you there!
